Paul Wiggins is the Principal of The Criminal Law Centre and one of the State’s most senior criminal defence lawyers. With over 40 years’ experience and more than 5,000 court appearances, he brings a level of insight and courtroom confidence that only decades of practice can deliver.
Paul has spent his career defending people at every stage of the criminal justice process. From urgent bail applications—including weekend matters—to defended hearings, trials, sentencing, and appeals, he knows how cases are built, challenged, and won. He also regularly appears in licence appeals, mental health applications, and matters involving the annulment of convictions.
He acts across the full spectrum of criminal law. This includes serious and complex matters such as assault, sexual offences, drug charges, fraud and white-collar crime, as well as firearms, public order offences, and allegations involving corporate or regulatory bodies including the NSW Crime Commission and ICAC. No matter the charge, Paul approaches every case with the same focus: protect his client’s position and achieve the best possible outcome.
